The Maui 1966
All-Star Football Team
Baldwin dominated on both sides of the ball in 1966, and as a result landed seven all-stars to The Maui News 1966 All-Star Team.
The Bears' defense, spear-headed by linebacker Michael Arakawa, allowed an average of 122.9 yards per game. Offensively, they were led by three backs: Antonio Funes, Billy Sakagawa and Santos Quipotla. Funes lost the rushing title by 28 yards to Maui High's Joseph Labuanan, the league's scoring champion.
Hilo's Robert Ahu was the MIL's top quarterback for the second year in a row, throwing for 362 yards and rushing for 472 yards. Ahu, a junior, also scored eight touchdowns. The Vikings had the top three receivers in the league.
Maui's Hymie Felicilda had a very impressive 37.8 yard punting average in 1966, nearly seven yards better than the league's next best punter.
